The valves body which have surrounding Jacket, it is called by the name of Jacketed Valve. Jacket can be a Fabricated (welded) from outside body or Integral casting with valve body. Depends on possibility of castings decide to go with fabricated or casted version.
Standard flanged valves can be fully jacketed. This compact design is accomplished by installing blind, tapped inserts in the flange bolt holes, with the jacket welded to the periphery of the flange. Flextrol’s unique design will allow the heating media to come into contact with the valve body and flanges.
Mostly two types of Jacket use in chemical, pharma, food, petrochemical, fertilizers, viscous, sulfur, bitumen, asphalt, viscous and general process industries.
1. Hot Jacket (Fabricated /Welded with valve body or Integral Casted with valve body) — Hot media passing through jacket cavity
2. Cold Jacket (Fabricated /Welded with valve body or Integral Casted with valve body) — Cold media passing through jacket cavity
Hot Jacketed valves being use to prevent solidification of process media in a pipe line and we know better once media jam in a pipe line and stuck up, it is very difficult to re-continue the process system. So where media solidify on room / lower temperature, base on minimum heating temperature requirement jacket media being select and pass through cavity of jacket to meet trouble operation of plant which practical not possible in ordinary standard two way valve.
Cold Jacketed valves being use to control and maintain temperature of process media. Where the process media temperature affect the total system and process of plant, there to prevent upper maximum limit of temperature cold jacket use which recirculate cold water continuous still the plant in operation which is not possible in standard valve.
Base on suitability of flow media valve body being select, various types of jacketed valves body materials are as per below:
Various types of tailor made jacketed valves can be and its selection depends on type of flow media, working pressure and working temperature. Some examples of jacketed valves are as follows;
